Description
I took on a project at Greenchoice EV, serving as the Data driven innovation coach for the EV team, with a mission to increase the sales of home EV chargers. Our target was ambitious: achieve 100% year-over-year growth by 2024. Utilizing my frontend development and technical skills, I introduced rapid experimentation cycles on the website and third party tooling and configured analytics in GA4 and Hotjar. This initiative was not just about hitting sales targets; it was about showcasing how rapid experimentation using frontend development can drive data-driven decisions and create a culture of innovation and continuous learning within a team.
Business and User Outcome
The cornerstone of our strategy was to integrate my development expertise with strategic innovation coaching. By implementing quick, iterative tests directly on the website, we could validate hypotheses in real-time and adapt our strategies based on actual user behavior and feedback. This approach led to a 233% growth in sales, far surpassing our initial goal. The success of this project demonstrated the critical role that effective rapid frontend development can play in understanding and catering to customer needs, ultimately driving significant business growth.
Biggest Challenge
Our main hurdle was managing and making sense of dispersed data across various platforms, including Google Analytics and the Customer Data Platform Exponea. My task was to collect this data effectively, ensuring it informed our experimentation cycles. Through the development of custom analytics implementations and the integration of feedback mechanisms, I was able to provide the team with actionable insights, guiding our innovation efforts towards areas with the highest impact on our growth objectives.
What I've Learned
This project was a lesson in the power of combining technical skills with strategic innovation. I learned the importance of agility in development practices—being able to quickly deploy tests and iterate based on findings is invaluable. It reinforced my belief in the critical role frontend developers play in bridging the gap between data insights and strategic business outcomes. Furthermore, it emphasized the necessity of fostering a collaborative environment where rapid experimentation and learning are part of the daily routine.
